Monday night, the No. 7 Louisville Women bowed out 72-68 to No. 2 Maryland at the Comcast Center in College Park, MD., in the second round of the tournament. After leading most of the first half, and a close second half, the loss came in the final minutes of the game. The Terrapins were given offensive opportunities, hitting 7 of 10 free throws to take the lead. Behind 71-68 with 0:07 left, senior Becky Burke was unable to clench a tie, missing a 3-point attempt. Louisville was called for a foul, and Maryland’s Tianna Hawkins made one free throw to close in on their win.

Shoni Schimmel finished off her sophomore season by leading with 22 points, nine assists, six rebounds and four steals.

The Lady Cards close their season achieving a 23-10 record.
