It saw an increase in funding from roughly $30,000 in the spring semester to $41,485 for the fall.

The men's and women's swimming and diving teams finished last season as runner-up in the Big East Championships. The only team that finished ahead of the Cardinals was Notre Dame, who finished in the top two 17 times in the last 25 years.
Much of U of L's success can be attributed to head coach Arthur Albiero.
"Our vision from day one was about creating a structure that is second to none, in terms of facilities, administrative support and community support, and that fosters a high level of competition," Albiero said.

After weeks of heated debate, concern from University of Louisville students over the new mandatory meal plan requirement is not dying down.
After the Student Government Association Senate meeting on October 21, another meeting was held for students to address their concerns with the meal plan.
Demetrius Gray, president of the Association of Black Students and a junior finance major, said that this meeting was productive, but was not satisfied with how visiting students were treated by the senate when discussing the meal plan.

It's starting to become a trend in politics for athletes to step down from the plate and up to the podium.

Cardinals prepare for McCoy, Panther’s running attack Saturday

LeSean McCoy's first game against the University of Louisville Cardinals was like the series finale of the "Soprano's": great until the last moment.
Last year McCoy, Pittsburgh's sophomore running back, had an outstanding game as a true freshman against the Cards, rushing for 120 yards and scoring two touchdowns, but his fumble inside the one-yard line in the final minute of the game proved devastating. A score would have tied the game, but Pitt went on to lose a 24-17 decision in Louisville.

U of L promotes better energy use for students

A bike instead of a car. A dark office instead of a needlessly lit one. An idle computer with the monitor turned off instead of one that stays on sucking energy needlessly.
The University of Louisville spends up to one million dollars a month on energy, according to the head of the Sustainability Council Barbara Burns.
A new energy pledge from the university aimed  toward encouraging energy conservation among students and faculty could make some of these choices common practice at U of L.

A performance far from tragic; Hamlet bodes well

In this age of experimental theatre, it is always refreshing to revisit the classics. For their second production of the season, the University of Louisville's Department of Theatre Arts is featuring William Shakespeare's tragedy "Hamlet," directed by Theatre Arts Associate Professor Rinda Frye. While the production is not experimental in nature and there is no evidence of an attempt to "modernize" it in any way, the show presents a slightly different approach to the play, particularly the character of Hamlet.

SAE had different plans.
After losing in the championship game last year, they were settling for nothing less than first place.
