President, students travel to Inauguration

Demetrius and Rudy met Muhammad Ali, Ashley Judd, Evander Holyfield, Larry King, Governor Steve Beshear, Mitch McConnell and Elaine Chao in less than 48 hours.
The two were invited by University of Louisville President Dr. James R. Ramsey to attend both the Bluegrass Ball and the Inauguration of 44th United States President Barack Obama with blue tickets they had received from Congressman John Yarmuth.


Lady Cardinals aiming for win at Providence

The University of Louisville women's basketball team is arguably one of the best teams in the country right now.
Recently, the Cards were victorious over the University of Cincinnati. Now, they're ready to travel to Providence, R.I. in hopes of coming back with another win, this time over the Providence Friars.

In our society, newspapers are disposable commodities. You read it one day, and by the next, it's irrelevant. After all, who wants to read about yesterday's news?
Yesterday's news, however, was very significant last week as the Kentucky Press Association put the past year of newspapers from across the state at center stage and distributed the 2009 KPA awards.

Early last Wednesday morning, the plan was to stop by Unitas Tower on the University of Louisville campus, pick up a friend and head to a local IHOP to celebrate a birthday.  At 3:15 a.m. the plan changed.

On Jan. 20, University of Louisville students gathered in the Red Barn to watch the presidential inauguration. Something else united them, the fight for higher education.
At the entry of the Red Barn, letters were available for people to sign that will be given to Kentucky legislators.

It's safe to say that Cardinal fans are more satisfied with the competitive results in U of L sports right now than they were around this time two months ago, when the football team was in the middle of a five-game losing streak to end the season 5-7.
