A man was arraigned this morning for threatening online to kill University of Louisville students.

40-year-old Kenneth Barnett was charged with second-degree terroristic threatening. An arrest report obtained by The Louisville Cardinal states Barnett reportedly sent over 100 text messages to the spouse of a U of L Assistant Athletic Director on Tuesday, Sept. 15.

The messages contained such violent language that the recipient notified police. One message detailed the harm he claimed he would do, saying, “I will go through your tailgate like a Tasmanian devil samurai. Slaughtering you all.”

Barnett’s bond was raised from $15,000 to $75,000 at this morning’s arraignment. He is due back in court on September 26th.

University Spokesman John Karman shared the following statement on behalf of the University:

“We are aware of the incident. This is an ongoing investigation, and we are allowing law enforcement to handle the matter. The safety of our student-athletes, staff and fans remains our highest priority. We will have no further comment at this time.”

The Louisville Cardinal will update this story with any new information.
