The Louisville Women’s Soccer team traveled to Saint Louis University Sept. 2 for their first away game of the season. With a final score of 1-0, Louisville keeps their undefeated season record of 4-0.

At the start of the game, the Cards stayed on the Billiken goalkeeper’s toes. By doing this, they quickly sent both teams into the locker rooms scoreless after the first half.

In the second half, the pressure continued with a penalty shot saved by Saint Louis in the 54th minute. Just minutes later, the Cardinals made a goal in the 60th minute by sophomore midfielder Morgan Bentley after a great pass by freshman midfielder Nina Nicosia.

Saint Louis tried to keep up in the closing minutes of the game, but it was too late. Louisville graduate goalkeeper Gabby Kouzelos finished the game with three saves, and led her team to victory.

“I’m very proud of our team as we keep learning and growing,” said Louisville Head Coach Karen Ferguson-Dayes. She also added that she was very pleased by how her team performed that night.

Louisville returns home to face Western Kentucky University on Sunday, September 5. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 pm at Dr. Mark & Cindy Lynn Stadium, where admission and parking are free for the entire 2021 season.
