After Rick Pitino was fired by the University of Louisville Athletic Association, Adidas announced they would cut ties with former U of L men’s basketball coach.

“In light of the decision by the University of Louisville, Adidas has terminated its personal services agreement with Rick Pitino, effective immediately,” a spokeswoman for Adidas said in an emailed statement.

Prior to the deal between U of L and Adidas, Pitino held a personal contract with the apparel company. Under the 2014 deal, Pitino inherited 98 percent of the $39 million the school made in the contract along with $1.5 million the following year.
