Louisville women’s soccer won their ACC home opener 1-0 over Miami on Thursday night to improve to 4-4-1 on the season.

Sophomore forward Alison Price scored in the 25th minute off a cross kick from senior Casey Whitfield to give the Cardinals the 1-0 lead.

Miami mounted a feverous attack late in the second half, but goalkeeper Taylor Bucklin held off the attack along with a strong defensive effort from the Cardinals.

Starting her fourth game of the season, the junior finished with eight saves.

“Taylor was sharp tonight,” head coach Karen Ferguson-Dayes said. “She made some big time saves for us.”

Miami outshot Louisville 18-7, but the Cardinals defense held firm throughout the night.

“We didn’t create a ton of chances, but the ones we did were quality,” Ferguson-Dayes said.

Louisville will continue their homestead and face Pittsburgh on Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m.
