A week ago, Rick Pitino jokingly said the NCAA selection committee would send his team to play somewhere in the Pacific Ocean for the NCAA tournament.

On Sunday evening, Louisville (24-8) was sent to Seattle as four seed in the East Region.

The Cardinals will face UC Irvine on Friday at 4:10 p.m.  If Louisville advances, the Cardinals would face the winner of fifth-seeded Northern Iowa and twelfth-seeded Wyoming on Sunday.

The East Region’s top seed is Villanova.  Virginia, who many believed was lock for a number one seed, received a two seed in the East Region after falling to North Carolina in the ACC tournament semi-finals.
