No. 5 Louisville defeated No. 14 Ohio State 64-55 on Tuesday night at the KFC YUM! Center as part of the ACC/Big Ten Challenge.
Louisville (6-0) rushed out to a 19 point lead in the first half and went into the break leading 35-18. The Cardinals stifling defense held Ohio State (5-1) to shooting 6 of 26 from the field in the first half.
The stout defensive effort was countered with 16 points from Wayne Blackshear. The senior forward finished with a game high 22 points.
Ohio State battled back in the second half and cut the Louisville lead to three with 1:12 left after two made free throws by D’Angelo Russell. Terry Rozier answered back with a three-pointer giving the Cardinals a 59-53 lead with 46 seconds left.
Rozier finished with 11 points, seven assists and seven rebounds despite playing a majority of the second half with a dislocated finger.
Fellow backcourt mate Chris Jones scored 10 points on 3 of 15 shooting. Montrezl Harrell added a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds.
Louisville will face FIU on Friday night at the KFC YUM! Center.
