It is officially summer’s last call. Salute its end this Tuesday with a knockout showcase, featuring Oklahoma bands Broncho, Low Litas, and Louisville’s own Mote.

Broncho embarks on a fall tour on the heels of their sophomore release, Just Enough Hip to Be Woman, which drops Sept. 16, and Louisville is in the front line of shows to hear it first. Broncho plays the upbeat rock you can bounce along to, windows down. The new record shows Broncho channeling new wave and surf-pop vibes to soften the punk edge that was prominent on their debut. Its jangly, guitar-driven sound is infectious. So much that All Songs Considered called the single “Class Historians” the most instantly catchy song of the year. Good luck pushing that intro out of your head.

With a self-titled debut fresh off the record press, Low Litas invite you to the sonic realm. Let the fluid voice of Mandii Larson be your guide through trenches of jagged guitar haze and razor-sharp jaunts. Fans of Sonic Youth and the guitar tones of J Mascis will find it hard to resist.

The three-piece Mote keeps it low-key in Louisville while recent gigs have built them a solid foundation in the scene. If their last 7’’ release is an indicator of what’s next, Mote is a band to watch.
