Junior Guard Shoni Schimmel scored 20 points to lead the Louisville Cardinals into a matchup with fourth seeded Purdue on Tuesday night.

Louisville came out strong and focused opening up a 17 point lead in the opening minutes. The players
were feeding off their coach.

The day prior, Cardinals head coach Jeff Walz was asked about a potential matchup in the next round.

“Who are the other teams?” he responded, “That’s how much I looked ahead. That’s how much I
respect MTSU.”

Monique Reid added 15 points, Judi Schimmel had 11 and Bria Smith put in a double-double with 10
point and 10 rebounds.

With the lead, Louisville was in complete control, looking to cruise to an easy victory.

The Blue Raiders of Middle Tennessee State responded and cut the lead down to one early in the second
half.

Louisville then scored 10 points in the next 73 seconds to open up the led. The lead swelled up to 27 at
one point.

Coach Walz now knows his opponent and will be solely focused on the Boiler Makers in the KFC Yum!
Center.
