On Friday, April 20, the track and field team hosted the fifth annual meet honoring the late duo of Lenny Lyles and Clark Wood. The University of Louisville track and field teams won 19 events and broke two school records at the invitational, held at Cardinal Park Track and Soccer Stadium.

Freshman runner Calvin Arsenault broke the 13-year-old school record in the 110 meter hurdles while senior thrower Chinwe Okoro shattered the other school record in the shot put field event; the mark ranks in the top 10 nationally.

The Cardinals won two other throwing events, with sophomore thrower Jenna Wargo in the women’s javelin and sophomore thrower Sam Bombaugh in the men’s hammer throw events.

Charachesicia Lockhart won the long jump with a distance of 20-08.

On the track, the men grabbed victories in the 400-meter hurdles, 800-meter hurdles, 1,500-meter hurdles and 3,000-meter steeplechase. Despite being a late entry, sophomore distance runner Mattias Wolter captured the steeplechase win, finishing 20 seconds before the runner-up.

Senior distance runner Holly Knight won the 1,500-meter race in the female track portion of the event. Junior sprinter Gabrielle Jackson earned first place in the 400-meter hurdles; she also contributed to a victory in the 4 by 100 meter and 4 by 400 meter relay races. Sophomore sprinter Ahlivia Spencer won her second consecutive event in the 800-meter race, finishing with the third fastest outdoor time in school history.
