Student Government Association President Brian Hoffman grabbed student's attention at the second annual State of the Student Body Address last Tuesday with strong words about tuition, campus services and student health issues. He's not Brian Brohm, nor will he ever be considered a Heisman candidate, but junior Cory Thorne has made a name for himself as one of the premier runners nationally in cross country. He was an integral part of the 2007 men's cross country team which brought the University of Louisville its' first Big East title in the sport, and a school record ninth place finish at the NCAA championships two weeks ago.

Football coordinators move on

University of Louisville football head coach Steve Kragthorpe announced a pair of staff changes Sunday, three days after the Cards ended their season with a win over Rutgers University. Offensive coordinator/wide receiver coach Charlie Stubbs has resigned to pursue other coaching opportunities and will be replaced by Jeff Brohm, who served as assistant head coach, passing game coordinator and quarterbacks coach last season.

Early last week, University of Louisville students across campus battled the frigid weather to compete in the 54th running of the Turkey Trot. The intramural 2.3 mile road race, the "Turkey Trot", is a great tradition at U of L and is the oldest consecutively run road race in the state of Kentucky.

The athletic department is asking all fans to blackout for the game against Rutgers University. No, they haven't come to the realization that getting blackout drunk is the only way to watch a 5-6 team play in sub freezing weather, instead they obviously know that black is the proper color to any funeral.
