University of Louisville student Mallory Bowman has beenselected editor-in-chief of the 2004 – 2005 The Louisville Cardinalnewspaper.
Bowman is a sophomore communication major with a background injournalism. She is a native of Spencer County and has worked at theSpencer Magnet in Taylorsville, Ky. for the past four years. Thissummer she will intern with the Pioneer Press in Sheperdsville,Ky..
During her time at the Cardinal she has served as a staffwriter, assistant news editor and news editor.
“I’m extremely excited about this position,”she said. “I believe I can help move the paper in the rightdirection. I’m looking forward to working with theadministration and especially the students in the comingyear.”
“I’ve enjoyed working with the Cardinal thusfar,” she said. “I believe it is a vital service tostudents and everyone affiliated with U of L.”
Bowman will officially take her position on July 1, when currenteditor, junior Josh Abner’s, term ends.
“I have no doubt that Mallory will do great things for thepaper during her term as editor,” said Abner. “This isa really exciting time for the Cardinal as we are preparing to moveinto our new office and Mallory will provide strong leadershipduring this time. I wish her the best of luck in the comingyear.”
Bowman said she plans on pursuing journalism as a career andhopes to start work at smaller community newspapers after attendinggraduate school.
