Our hearts go out to the Pitino family. Very few of us here have felt the effects of the terrorist attacks on New York City and Washington D.C. the way they have. For them, the attack became more personal. For them, they could feel the same loss and same emotions that the other six thousand families and countless friends are feeling.

The rest of America that only saw the tragedy on television and cried a tear for the world will never know what the Pitinos are feeling. They will never know what it was like to wait days before knowing if a friend, brother, sister or parent was dead or alive. Imagine those days, hours, minutes and seconds that went by as the Pitino family waited by the phone for a call that never came.

For those that lost someone, our hearts go out to you in this time of suffering. At times like this the question of ‘why?’ arises from the smoke and it will continue to rise and become greater in dimension. It is a question that will go unanswered in the minds and hearts of all United States citizens. Television host Rosie O’Donnell made a comment on her talk show that people who don’t live in New York just don’t understand what a tragedy this really is. Rosie has no idea what she is talking about. Whether it was in New York or San Francisco, the people of the United States would still be suffering and still feel the rage and the effects of this national terrorist attack that has changed us all.Remember September 11, 2001, and continue to live.
