Fifth-ranked men’s soccer (9-1-2) beat FAU 5-0, extending their unbeaten streak to seven matches. Senior Mohamed Thiaw connected for his first career hat trick and now has six goals on the season.

Senior Tim Kubel scored his fifth goal of the season and added an assist. Kubel suffered an injury in the match.

“Right now it looks like it’s a bruise,” coach Ken Lolla said. “We’ll see how quickly he recovers and we’re hopeful that he’ll be ready for UNC.”

Tate Schmitt scored as well, his sixth of the season.

Thiaw registered the first hat trick for Louisville since 2012. Goalkeeper Will Meyer registered his third straight clean sheet as the Cardinals earned their seventh shutout of the season.

“We have keep our heads up and respect our opponent. Every team is a good team … any team can beat you at any time,” Thiaw said. “We had to stay focused the entire 90 minutes and just get the job done. And that’s exactly what we did today.”

The Cardinals host the No. 4 North Carolina on Friday, Oct. 14.
