Trinity High School guard David Johnson has committed to the men’s basketball program. The four-star guard is the first commit of the 2019 class and ranked the 29th player by Scout.com.

“I chose Louisville because I love the style of play I think it fits me well,” Johnson said. “It’s my hometown team so I know they’ll show lots of love. Also Rick Pitino is an amazing coach and I can’t wait to play for him.”

Committing on an unofficial visit, the 6-foot-4 guard is the top player in Kentucky according to all major recruiting sites.

Johnson averaged 12.1 points per game during his sophomore year in 2016-17, helping the Shamrocks to a 29-4 record.
