A shooting near Bettie Johnson Hall left one victim in surgery Tuesday night. The victim, a 62 year-old black male, was not a student, and sustained non life-threatening injuries.

A Rave alert reported the incident at 10:58 p.m. Tuesday, saying there was one victim. Louisville Metro Police and University of Louisville Police responded, reportedly finding the victim on Sixth and Hill Streets.

LMPD Spokesperson Alicia Smiley said the victim was presumably shot near Bettie Johnson, fleeing towards Sixth and Hill Streets where police found him. He was transported to U of L Hospital for surgery.

One Bettie Johnson desk attendant claimed the incident was a drive-by shooting, and was unaware if the victim was a student or not.

Smiley said the suspect has not been caught, and no motive for the shooting has been determined. Students with information are advised to call the LMPD anonymous tip line at 502-574-5673.
