“Batman vs. Superman” came out less than two weeks ago and made a huge impression on movie-goers. It’s difficult to gauge an opinion on the movie though, since it has so many differing reviews. It earned a 29 percent on Rotten Tomatoes, but has a nine out of 10 on IMDB.

The conflicting reviews haven’t affected the film’s box office success, however. It has earned over half a billion dollars and continues soaring even weeks after releasing.

The film stars Henry Cavill and Ben Affleck as Superman and Batman, respectively. While some praised Ben Affleck’s new Batman, others weren’t impressed. U of L students in particular had much to say about the new movie.

“It was awesome. People who don’t like the movie aren’t giving it a chance because Christian Bale isn’t in it. He (Bale) was awesome as Batman, but Ben Affleck isn’t bad either,” sophomore Shemari Williams said.

“Ben Affleck kind of ruined Batman for me, so that affected how I saw the movie. I guess everything else was fine, but I couldn’t really get passed the ‘Batfleck’ throughout the whole movie,” said freshman Matthew Hall.

Wonder Woman also got some fans.

“I can’t say enough about Wonder Woman. She was really good too,” Williams said.

“Wonder Woman was definitely my favorite part. I’m excited to see her in the actual movie, so getting a glimpse of her in this was cool and she stole some scenes from Batman and Superman, honestly,” said sophomore Jahnai Brown.

Some are avoiding the theaters because of the differing reviews.

“I haven’t actually seen it yet, since the theaters are always super crazy for movies like this, but I really want to because a lot of people have said good things about it. I know a lot of people don’t like it either, but I figure I might as well go at some point,” sophomore Amy Allan said.
