When preparing for your Valentine’s Day weekend, what you wear is almost as important as what you do. No matter where you plan to spend the special evening, here are tips to make sure you look stunning:

Formal dinner

Dinner is a timeless way to spend Valentine’s Day. Therefore, it makes sense to go for a timeless look. Of course a suit for guys and the classic little black dress for women is an appropriate option. But it’s O.K if that’s not your taste. Anything on the formal side works fine. The key is fit.

Laid-back date

Maybe you’re not about fancy restaurants and dressing up. That doesn’t mean you can’t celebrate at a casual restaurant or just grab a coffee together. Whichever you prefer, a fuss free Valentine’s Day outing calls for a fuss free ensemble. Something cozy like an oversized sweater is both relaxed and chic. Finish the look with a pair of jeans and trainers.

Around the city

Function is just as important as style if you’re going to be exploring downtown Louisville for Valentine’s Day. So leave the uncomfortable shoes at home and opt for your tried and true items. Don’t forget to finish the look with layering pieces such as scarves and jackets. It’s a sure proof way to look put together while staying warm.

Concert

The inclination to sport a mostly black look to a concert can tempting. And there’s nothing wrong with that going that route. But if it’s not what you want to do, try adding a bomber jacket to your look. It still has a tough edge to it no matter what color you choose. Denim jackets are another great addition to a concert look.

Fun and artsy

A more artsy and social date like spending the evening at Uptown Art makes for a nice opportunity to experiment with prints and colors. Pick a core color to work with and choose a few colors that complement it to put together a fun outfit. Even if you don’t care for a busy look, you can keep things simple by wearing one item that provides a pop of color to your entire ensemble.
