President James Ramsey said he does not plan to leave his position until his contract expires in 2020.

Ramsey revealed his plans following a legislative panel on Governor Matt Bevin’s education funding cuts. Ramsey expressed disappointment in the cuts.

The president’s term has been questioned since a tense faculty senate meeting two weeks ago. At the meeting, Ramsey said, “I don’t know how much longer I will be here,” and saying he had not planned to be in the position so long.

Ramsey also addressed articles about Pan-African Studies Chair Ricky Jones. Jones said the postseason ban decision was made without the consent of the investigations committee.

While saying Jones was entitled to his own opinion, Ramsey claimed Jones was not updated on the investigation as far back as December. When asked about who made the decision, Ramsey said “I’m the president. It was a university decision.”
