U of L administration took a preemptive strike at an expected five to nine inches of snow by canceling classes for Jan. 22.

U of L spokesperson John Drees said the decision was made “based on student and employee safety.”

The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning for Louisville from 7 a.m. on Jan. 22 to 7 a.m. on Jan. 23. The warning extends throughout most of Kentucky.

Drees said the decision was made by administration, including CFO/COO Harlan Sands and interim provost Neville Pinto. The president is traditionally briefed, but Drees was unsure if Ramsey was involved tonight.
