With finals upon us, stress levels are going up and motivation is going down. Students have several techniques they utilize to help them prepare and study for finals.

One technique that helps me is to study for at least an hour and a half each night a week instead of pulling an all-nighter. Studies show that it is better to get a full night of sleep rather than pulling an all-nighter, especially the night before a test.

“I normally start studying three or four days before an exam. I go through each chapter and write out what I think is the most important information in each chapter,” junior Haylee Kerber said.

U of L senior Sarah Yousiff said she likes to go through each chapter and make note cards.

“The best way to help me remember information for an exam is by making note cards. I have used this technique for awhile now. I love the online website called Quizlet. You are able to make your own note cards online. Next to each note card there is a unique tool that allows you to add a voice recording which I have found to be very effective,” Yousiff said.

Junior Julia Rukavina found that the best way to help her prepare for finals is by getting a study room for herself at the library. “I am able to fully concentrate without any distractions when I have a study room to myself.”
