Alternative outfit Moon Taxi is making a two-night return to the Derby City for their Daybreaker tour tonight and tomorrow night at Headliner’s Music Hall. Moon Taxi, a indie-alt band from Nashville who played a WFPK Waterfront Wednesday in 2014, has already sold out Headliner’s for their Saturday night show, and are slated to sell out their show tonight.

If you can imagine a musical marriage between The Black Keys and Jukebox the Ghost with an occasional Nirvana-like influence in songs like “Domino,” you’re in the right mind to see this band.

“The last time we played Headliners the shows sold out early, so we wanted to make sure all of our fans had an opportunity to see us this time,” bassist and vocalist Tommy Putnam said. “We have more material now that Daybreaker has been released so we can change up the set some too.”

Moon Taxi released their most recent album, “Daybreaker,” in October. Of the 11 songs on the album,  Putnam told us he is most excited to perform “Who’s to Say” at the show tonight with a cool light show. And look out for the band around town tonight, because Putnam also admitted to loving Louisville for the fact that our bars stay open until 4 a.m.
