Katina Powell’s book “Breaking Cardinal Rules,” published by IBJ Book Publishing, received subpoenas from the Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office today, reported first by ESPN.

In light of the University of Louisville men’s basketball scandal, the Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office has issued a grand jury subpoena to the publishing company.

IBJ Book Publishing confirmed the reports to WDRB on Friday and will appear before the grand jury on Nov. 5.

Made up of 12 citizens, the grand jury can subpoena information and people, which will force individuals involved in the scandal to come forth with the truth in the court of law.

Though individuals subpoenaed can use their Fifth Amendment rights to avoid testifying, information such as phone and bank records can be accessed.
