In an email to the university, Provost Shirley Willihnganz announced that she will step down from her position at the end of the academic year.
While complimenting President James Ramsey, she cited a need for a change after 13 years and expressed a desire for a continuation of the university’s trajectory.
As a tenured faculty member, she will take an administrative leave for one year and return to teaching in 2016.
“I know that this university is on such a trajectory that somebody great will want to be the next provost,” read the message.
According to spokesman John Drees, there is currently no timeline for finding a permanent replacement.
