UNC defeated Louisville volleyball in four sets on Sunday, bringing their record to 15-14 and 8-8 in the ACC.

Louisville lost the first set 25-21, but came back to take the second set all the way through with a 25-20 win. The last two sets were fought hard by both teams but ended in 27-25 in the third set and a 26-24 finale in the fourth set ending the match with a Tarheel win.

“I’m proud of this team and how they fought so hard. We have been dealing with some different things and have been moving line-ups around and were told they weren’t competing, but they went out there and played their heart out,” head coach Anne Kordes said. “We didn’t just compete, we had some execution on top of it.

It was also senior day at Cardinal Arena where Tara Gowan and Courtney Robison were honored.

“I can’t say enough about the two seniors. Tara took a big risk coming here for one year and Courtney has been the heart and soul of this team for the last three years,” Kordes said. “I will miss them both and I appreciate everything they have done for this program.”

“All four years it has been a blessing to be here, and I have never been a part of a team that fights so hard and truly cares about each other like this team does,” Robison said. “I’ll tell everyone in the country that we play for the best coaches out there. It is hard to leave Anne because she is like family to me and I am so fortunate to have that.”

Robison completed her senior day with 12 digs and 2 assists. Katie George and Janelle Jenkins led the team with 16 digs each and Tess Clark led the team with 16 kills.

U of L has only one match remaining this season against Pittsburg on Wednesday at 4 pm.
