Sports fans, there’s a new hotspot near campus specifically dedicated to you. On Sept. 11, Overtime Sports Bar And Grill opened across from the baseball stadium.

Five minutes away from U of L, the restaurant offers a wide selection of typical tailgate food and alcoholic beverages. The menu includes a range of cuisine, from wings and burgers to seafood and pizza.

The food items also have sports-themed names: Benchwarmers as appetizers, Philly Phanatic Cheese Steak, and Slam Dunk Sliders, to name a few. The pizzas are named after Triple Crown winners, for example, Secretariat, “the supreme of all pizzas.” The food is also fresh, never frozen.

Alcoholic beverages have eye-catching names, unique to Louisville. They include the Redbird Bowl, Cardinal Cooler and the Louisville Lip.

The walls are plastered with more than 40 high definition TVs, all showing games.

“Overtime Sports Bar and Grille is a great place near campus for me to go watch my beloved Buffalo Bills games on Sundays,” said freshman Andrew Hebert. Overtime shows not just Louisville games, but professional games as well.

Senior Blaine Scinta said he was looking forward to going to a new restaurant, since it provided him with more dining options close to campus. “It’s always fun watching a game with other fans who are just as excited as you,” Scinta said.

Although the new restaurant is not well-known yet, Overtime manager Brian Simmons plans to change that with the help of special offers. On Mondays, all traditional wings are 50 cents. On Wednesdays, all boneless wings are 50 cents – the mild boneless wings were terrific.

Wednesday nights feature karaoke, for those who enjoy putting on a show. On Thursdays, pints are two for one. And if you show a valid Louisville student ID, you get a 10 percent discount.

Simmons mentioned they are working on more deals and arrangements. “If you have anything in mind for specials, let us know,” he said. He also said Overtime is open for party reservations.

With a dance floor, DJ, a plethora of TVs, remarkable food and friendly service, Overtime has the potential to become a popular hotspot among students.
