This weekend the Louisville Hunt Seat Equestrian Team is hosting their annual IHSA horse show. Every year the Hunt Seat Equestrian Team has 5 to 6 horse shows that are hosted by various colleges in the region.

The show is taking place at Stone Place Sables in Prospect Kentucky. Riders will be competing against other colleges around the region including UK, Moorhead State, Midway College, University of Cincinnati, Georgetown, Xavier, and more. T

he riders can compete in jumping classes and flat classes. There are different divisions that range in the riders ability. Riders compete individually in their divisions and at the end of the day the judges’ tally up team scores to determine what college is the winner. For those unfamiliar with Equestrian it involves jumping horses over obstacles following a certain routine. Riders want to use the most finesse as possible to score highly.

Last year at the University of Louisville show the team came in second overall. When asked what the team hopes to accomplish this weekend the President of the Louisville Equestrian Team, Mimi Abbott stated, “We hope that all the girls have fun and that the hard work we have put into riding pays off so that we can win first place at our own horse show.”

The Hunt Seat President went on to say, “we have be planning to put this show on for months and are very excited to see it finally coming together.”
