Student and professor address books are coming back to both Exchange and Cardmail.
U of L IT removed the integrated address book feature over the summer, as a way to address several problems that occurred in the mail system, which caused many emails to go undelivered. Now, the integrated address book will slowly repopulate for faculty. IT said it will notify affected users when all contacts are in the address book.
IT also pointed out some changes to this iteration of the address book:
- Individuals who are both students and professors will have both an Exchange and Cardmail account. If you want to email a person in his or her capacity as a professor, use the Exchange account. If you want to email a person in his or her capacity as a student, use the Cardmail account.
- Conference calls using the Microsoft service Lync will require the user to know the complete email address (firstname.lastname@example.org or email@example.com) of the party he or she is trying to reach. The user will no longer be able to select the name from an address book.
