International Education Week starts November 11th and goes through November 15th this year and U of L is excited to host several events in honor of their international students. On the International Centers website they state, “International Education week Is an opportunity to celebrate the benefits of international education and exchange worldwide…it’s part of our efforts to promote programs that prepare Americans for a global environment and attract future leaders from abroad to study, learn, and exchange experiences in the United States.”

This week the center will be hosting great events and they are good opportunities to learn about how beneficial the International Center can be to all of its students. When trying to figure out how useful this center actually is to international students I asked around and found an international student from England, Tom Hamilton. I asked him if the International Center helped him in his transition to the United States and his response was, “Yes they did, they sorted my housing, got me in contact with the law school, and they also email me regularly about things that may be of interest to me.”

If you want to go out and meet some international students and learn more about the International Center their events are next week. The events that are open to all students include: Kick off November 11th (9:00-11:00PM) free doughnuts and coffee at the International Center, International Luncheon November 12th (12:30PM) at the Health Sciences campus, and another International luncheon on November 14th (Noon) at the Red Barn.
