The World Series of Poker is a series of poker tournaments held annually in Las Vegas, Nevada. The Tournament is sponsored and held at Caesars Palace.  This event we can all watch on TV and shutter every time a card is dropped.

This year in Southern Indiana the circuit event for the WSOP was held at Horseshoe Casino.  The World Series of Poker Circuit is a series of poker tournaments held annually at a variety of casinos since 2005. This is a build-up to the WSOP.

Curtis Umstead, a UofL student, bet his luck on entering the tournament.  He told the Cardinal, “This is a big annual event, and it’s the busiest time of year at the poker room.  This gave me the chance to play in a tournament with the World Series of Poker name on it.”  This event was held from Oct.3-Oct.14.  When asked what his favorite part of poker was he responded, “It’s an amazing mental game with a lot of deep thinking.  Anyone can play, as long as you can afford it.”
