All sports were represented by their top students last Thursday as the U of L Athletic Department awarded A.D. honor roll student-athletes.

After the first quarter of the U of L-Rutgers football game, all athletes who had higher than a 3.0 GPA last spring were honored by walking onto the football field in front of over 55,000 fans. The athletes were shown on the big screens at the Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium.

Last spring, 350 of 526 athletes were eligible for the A.D. Honor Roll, an all-time record for percentage of student-athletes eligible to be placed on the A.D. Honor Roll with more than 66 percent.

Last fall, 355 of 554 athletes were eligible. This represented a record regarding the number of A.D. Honor roll student-athletes.

Seventeen athletes were representing the women’s swimming and diving team. With an average GPA of 3.3 last year, these women represent one of the most successful teams on campus.
