U of L recently promised further funding to the Louisville Rotary Club by helping continue the Louisville Rotary Promise Scholarship.

The ultimate goal is to raise $4 million to supply to any eligible student graduating from four schools from Jefferson County Public Schools. The Louisville Rotary Club said the schools selected will be “those with the lowest college attendance rates and a majority of low income families.”

“The University of Louisville is extremely proud and fortunate to have partners like JCTC and the Louisville Rotary Club to help us provide opportunities for at-risk students to earn a four-year degree,” said President James Ramsey.

To date, the fund has only raised $1 million, supplying one school with the scholarship funds.

Originally, the scholarship was to help those seeking associates’ degrees from Jefferson Community & Technical College. With the extended funding from U of L, the scholarship can expand to those working towards bachelor’s degrees.
