The rivalry of this year’s Final Four game featuring U of L versus UK sparked an increase in demand for tickets; this ignited a surge of the ticket prices, evident in the following statistics gathered by TiqIQ:

  • The average price for the Final Four games on Saturday stood at $714.57, a 112.2 % increase from last year’s semifinals.
  • The most expensive ticket for the Final Four was more than $7,900, which guaranteed seats in the Plaza premium section.
  • The average price for the national championship game was $390.70, a 55.35 % increase from last year.
  • The most expensive ticket for the championship game was more than $5,400 for a seat at Center Court, row 6.
  • The University of Louisville offered student tickets set at $25; however, the limited quantity only enabled 710 Cardinals to receive tickets.

U of L’s campus provided several outlets that allowed students who did not purchase a ticket to watch and enjoy the game. Cardinal Towne restaurants, such as Cluckers and Papalinos Pizza, were packed with students on Saturday night, generating an exciting and energetic atmosphere.

Despite the team’s loss to UK, the Final Four game united U of L students and allowed them to display their Cardinal pride. Regardless of the outcome, the University of Louisville showed the nation not only the capability of its basketball team but also the loyalty of its fans.
