UofL names interim dean of medical school
Dr. Toni Ganzel will be replacing current dean Dr. Edward Halperin who recently announced that he will be leaving the University of Louisville Medical School. Ganzel will take her position on March 20, the day after Halperin officially vacates it.
Executive vice president for health affairs, Dr. David L. Dunn, said in a news release, “She understands the needs of our faculty, staff and students as it relates to education, clinical care and research.”
A committee will soon be formed to formally choose a new, permanent, dean.

Association of Black Students hosts ‘Continuing the Legacy’ banquet
On Tuesday, Feb. 28, the Association of Black students and the Black Diamond Choir launched the “Continuing the Legacy Banquet”, an honors ceremony held to recognize various achievements by individuals in the black community and in the larger community as well.
Six awards were given out, including the Bridging the Gap Award, given to both a U of L group and an individual working to increase communication and ideas between minority groups and the larger campus community. Other awards included the Humanitarian Award, Future Leader Award, Entrepreneurship Award, and the Lifetime Achievement Award.
