The University of Louisville men’s baseball team hosted their pre-season inter-squad scrimmage on Friday, Feb. 10. The Cardinals played twelve innings in front of a home crowd gathered inside Jim Patterson Stadium despite the cold and the snowy conditions. The white squad prevailed over the gray squad by a score of 16-8. Louisville’s talented freshman class was on display for the white squad. Freshman infielder Mason Snyder went 3-for-4 with a home run and three runs scored. Fellow freshman pitcher Jared Ruxer collected three strikeouts in as many innings on the mound for white.

The Cardinals will officially open their 2012 season against the University of Minnesota in Clearwater, Fla. for the Big Ten/Big East Challenge. After playing two more games, they will open the home season against Eastern Kentucky in Jim Patterson Stadium on Feb. 22.
