The University of Louisville men’s basketball team improved their record to 17-5 overall and 5-4 in the Big East with two conference wins against Villanova and Seton Hall.
The Wildcats of Villanova fell 84-74 to the Cardinals’ offensive onslaught inside the KFC Yum! Center. Junior guard Kyle Kuric led Louisville with 16 points scored and five assists. Sophomore center Gorgui Dieng pulled down 13 rebounds.

On the road against Seton Hall, the Cards prevailed against the Pirates by a score of 60-51. Sophomore guard Russ Smith led the Cardinals to victory with 14 points while both freshman forward Chane Behanan and Dieng broke into double figures in rebounding. The victory marked the University of Louisville men’s basketball program’s one hundred year anniversary with Jan. 28, 1912 being the date of the first game of Cardinal basketball played.

The men’s team returns to action Feb. 4 at home against Rutgers.
