On Friday, Oct. 16, Heine Brothers’ Coffee celebrated their 15-year anniversary at their Longest Avenue location in the Highlands, closing off the street for the event. The Longest Avenue location is one of the smaller Heine Brothers’ stores, but maintains comfortable space because of its connection to Carmichael’s Bookstore.
“With Carmichael’s Bookstore connected directly to the coffee shop, there’s an extended lounging area for everyone,” said Jane Mattingly, senior English major at U of L and barista at the Longest Avenue location. “Coffee shops and bookstores always seem to go well together.”
Students need not travel too far for a coffee from Heine Brothers’. In addition to the small coffee shop in Ekstrom Library, Heine Brothers’ boasts an impressive seven locations, in the Highlands, St. Matthews and Crescent Hill. Fair trade, organic coffee is always within reach.
