On Saturday, October 4, U of L hosted the annual Louisville Invitational cross country meet. Held at local Tom Sawyer park, the event hosted over twenty colleges competing in both men’s and women’s categories.

It was a record setting day as multiple runners gave performances that overturned the previous gold standards. Cory Thorne, Louisville’s top steeple chase runner took gold in the men’s race. His time of twenty-three minutes and forty-five seconds took the fourteenth fastest time held at the Tom Sawyer Park course.

In the women’s bracket University of Louisville runner, Tara McKay took second overall. Her time of seventeen minutes and seven seconds tied her for the fourth fastest time ever at Tom Sawyer Park. The top time was taken by Western Kentucky runner, Janet Jesang. She broke the record for the fastest time with at time of sixteen minutes and fifty three seconds.

The placing of the Louisville players, netted the hometown team enough points to claim overall victory in the team competition.
