Letter to the Editor: Death makes transcendentalists of us all
Everyone comes to a point when they ask themselves “whatwill happen when I die?” This seems to be the age oldquestion that no one really knows the answer to. Of course, this iswhere “religion” comes in.
Many see religion as a quick way for some church organization tomake a buck. Now, whether your statement that religiousinstitutions make billions of dollars in profits is correct, Idon’t know. However, one thing is true, some religiousorganizations do rip people off. But what else is new, there aremany times in a person’s life when some common sense and alittle investigation is required so that we are not ripped off.
You were right on when you quoted Emerson. Nothing is as sacredas our own minds, and how we have free will to make whateverdecisions we want. All I ask is that when the day comes and you askyourself “why am I here?” or “What’s goingto happen to me when I die?” that you would investigate andfind out for yourself what you believe is the truth.
Downing all religion is not the answer, we were all given freewill, for the purpose of finding out for ourselves the truth.
