Some people say they’re just getting by. Res believes otherwise. In fact, she’s done quite well for herself. Her style brings together three preemminent vocalist: Lauren Hill, Erykah Badu , Fiona Apple and Eddie Vedder of Pearl Jam.

She attended the Academy of Notre Dame after busting out of the ghetto-like streets of Philly. Her lyric-writing screams of hope, madness and social problems. Her lyrics sometimes outshadow her gorgeous vocals as well as her looks.

Her previous work includes writing songs with the brothers of real hip-hop. She’s written with and performed with the Roots, Talib Kweli and Mos Def. A personal favorite song on the album is that entitled “700-mile Situation.” This track hits right on for those involved in long-distance relationships. We have needed some music to be released like this from a modern queen like this. We needed an amazing voice, not only acting as a voice but a hand with a pen and a band playing instruments. It always mesmerizes me to see raw talent beginning to become exposed.

This is a debut album so expect higher and better and more amazing collaborations with more amazing hip-hop acts. I suggest picking up with album as soon as you can and filling your mind and soul with real music written, sung and CO-produced all by the same person. You know the acts that only perform, or only write are still talented but the ones that do it all are the truth of talent. Her periodic table of elements in this album is full from reggae, soul, acid jazz, folk-alternative rock and modern R&B. It is a full table of explosive creations and lyrics swimming very deep in the writing ocean. MCA records gives her a home. Pick it up as quick as you can and lock yourself in that room and just let your ears have dessert
